Track3D launches on the Garmin Connect IQ Store

Published

The Track3D Data Field is now publicly available through the Garmin Connect IQ Store. A compatible Garmin watch can provide race tracking observations to Track3D Crew through Garmin’s connected communications path and the paired phone.

Install Track3D from Connect IQ

The Track3D Data Field can be installed through the Garmin Connect IQ Store on supported Garmin watches.

Once installed, it can be paired with the runner’s Track3D account so observations from the correct Garmin installation can be associated with the race tracking connection.

Track while the Garmin activity is running

When the Track3D Data Field is paired and the relevant Garmin activity is running, supported tracking observations can be sent through Garmin’s connected communications path and the paired phone to Track3D.

The Track3D Data Field does not replace Garmin’s normal activity recording. Its role is to provide Track3D Crew with observations that can be used as race tracking evidence.

Put Garmin observations into race context

A watch location becomes more useful to crew when it can be related to the planned course. Track3D can use the observation with the same Race Plan, checkpoint and timing context used by other supported tracking sources.

This lets crew follow race progress and upcoming checkpoint information rather than interpreting raw coordinates on their own.

One of several Track3D tracking sources

The Garmin Connect IQ Data Field is a tracking source rather than a separate Race Plan. The same Track3D race can use the common course and checkpoint context regardless of whether observations arrive from Garmin Connect IQ, Garmin inReach or another supported source.
