Garmin inReach tracking with Track3D Crew
Published
Garmin inReach devices are widely used where mobile coverage can be unreliable. Track3D Crew can use a configured Garmin inReach MapShare source as one of the tracking sources for a race.
Connect the tracking source
The runner connects their Garmin inReach MapShare information to their Track3D Crew account. Track3D can then receive the available location updates from that source and use them within the race tracking workflow.
The connection has a readiness state so the runner can confirm the source is configured before relying on it for a race.
Put the location on the race course
A raw tracking location becomes more useful when it is related to the planned race. Track3D matches received observations to the course so crew can see progress in the context of the Race Plan and upcoming checkpoints.
Tracking sources are separate from the Race Plan
The Race Plan does not need to be rebuilt around a particular tracking device. Garmin inReach is a tracking source connected to Track3D Crew, while the course, checkpoints and timing plan remain the common race context.
